My cottage at Nature’s Nest is pretty secluded. Here is the nearest public road:

Many people ask me if I feel lonely or afraid to be on my own out here. Well, to me that is a strange question. Being alone is the whole point. And what is there to be afraid of? The last bear that passed by a couple of years ago was more afraid of me than I was of it. There are three black bears in the area.

As I have no internet, television or telephone, it gets pretty quiet. That suits me just fine. I sit on the veranda or in the canoe or kayak and listen to the sounds of nature: 

Sometimes I paddle over to visit the nearest neighbour, the beaver, and hear the frogs croak.
